10. P SquareBank Alert  (Produced by Peter Okoye)

After the back and forth controversy that trailed their path in 2016, the Okoye brothers, Psquare, reignited their passion for music with a welcome back song titled ‘Bank Alert‘ which quickly became a fan favourite. Though it came later this year, it still managed to make its place on the countdown.

 

 

9. Mayorkun  –  Eleko (Produced by Fresh)

Newcomer Mayorkun makes an unprecedented claim to fame with his first ever single after signing to Davido’s DMW label this year. The reception to this song was massive as it had 1 Millions views in less than 10 days!

 

8. HumblesmithOsinachi feat Davido (Produced by Mixta Dimz)

Humblesmith enlisted superstar Davido to remix his already blown single ‘Osinachi’ and the result was an even bigger song. Davido at that
time was in a bitter battle for custody of his daughter Imade and sensationally voiced out some nasty info on his verse. Unnecessary some might say, but it helped Humblesmith’s cause
with the song going viral within days of release and the rest they say is history.

From all observation Mr Eazi is on another level with a new sound that has no competition. A few of his songs could have made this list, but this song produced by Dj Juls broke him into the mainstream in the most amazing way.

YBNL boss and prolific Nigerian rapper, Olamide’s hit single ‘Who You Epp‘ produced by Shizzi was one of most talked about singles for 2016. Not only did it get covers (remixes) by other artistes (both big and small), the title ‘Who You Epp’ became a cliché among Nigerians. It clinches the number four spot.

Superstars Phyno and Olamide have a wonderful working relationship and friendship which is evident when they combine for massive hits such as this tune. Fada Fada
took over the Ngeria in a heart beat.

3. PatorankingNo Kissing feat Sarkodie (Produced by GospelOnDeBeatz)

Patoranking is the real deal, his blend of patois and pidgin is seamless, requiring close attention to unpick. ‘No Kissing Baby‘ was produced by GospelOnDeBeatz, the music video, released in June on YouTube, has already broken ten million views. The number has been steadily growing since then, which must mean that it’s still being watched by returnees with appetites.

Award-winning artist/producer and Triple MG wonder kid, Tekno, has had quite an amazing career 2016. His single ‘Pana‘ produced by Krizbeatz became the soundtrack to a nation and  paved the way for his successful strides which  has earned him a new lease on life and the number 1 spot.
