Kenyan singer, Victoria Kimani caught the attention of Chocolate City executives after her remake of Iceprince’s “Oleku”. The Nigerian record label was on the verge of opening a branch in Kenya when she caught its attention and Kimani became the first act to be signed in 2012 on to Chocolate City Kenya.

Victoria Kimani began to explore other markets across Africa, a few months later she made Prokoto, with Diamond Platnumz and Ommy Dimpoz, both of whom have a strong fan base in East and Southern Africa. Prokoto quickly gained nearly a million views on Youtube, Kimani’s highest since she started her career and her first relative hit.

In the last quarter of 2015 the phrase ‘Kimani Killi show’ transmuted into a proper slang among the millennials that barely gave the song that spawned it a summary glance the year before.

Perhaps it was tied to Tekno’s meteoric rise on the wave of his hit Duro and other big songs he produced during the time frame (including IceprinceBoss‘), Show’s Youtube views skyrocketed, gaining 200,000 views in 4 months.

Probably under obligation from her label, she released a second song Two of Dem, made a video for it. Kimani was actually being talked about, for her music, and her ability to craft a killer hook.

Just when her Nigerian audience was starting to get into the idea of Victoria Kimani as proper contender, she releases All the Way, featuring South African rapper Khuli Chana. She followed up with Giving You featuring Ghanian rap star Sarkodie.

According to a statement issued by Chocolate City, “Safari is Swahili for “Journey” and the Safari Album is the perfect description to sum up Victoria’s Life through travel, things she has learned along the way, inspirations she has carried throughout her life as a child to two Travelling Missionaries into her blooming music career that takes Victoria all around the world and back.

Rumours surfaced in August 2016 that the Kenyan singer was planning her exit from the record label headed by Jude Abaga aka MI.
