Joor Jorr oo!
Superstar Dj Kaywise headlined the first major concert of the new year in grand style. After the successful release of his certified street banger Caro featuring Industry heavyweights Tekno & Falz, he proceeded to give Lagosians a thrill for the photo book.
For two years in a row the Joor Concert series, arguable the biggest music show in mainland Lagos, with over 7,000 event goers, also reaching out to many youths across Africa via Social Media, Television and Radio Stations.
Dj Kaywise brought the stars out for this sold out event with performances from Falz, CDQ, Niniola, Ortise Femi, Jaywon, Koker, Young 6ix, Sugar Boy, Skales, Small Doctor, Wale Turner and much more. Hosted by Ehiz (Mtv Base), Moti Cakes (Soundcity 98.5fm) and Hardvantage with special guest DJs like Dj Spicey and Dj Space.
One of the major highlights of the night was when surprise guest performer Davido climbed the stage to perfom his verse on DMW‘s hit single Back to Back. For an A-list star like Davido, many would expect the man to be far disconnected from the realities of what it feels like to be offstage and struggling to have a bit more with a performer.
Footage from Joor Concert 2017 has been trending across Nigeria, showing the recently signed SONY music act defending his fans from an overzealous security official. In the video making rounds, the Aye crooner was performing a set and was pacing himself with some fan interaction. Fans closer to the stage were inching forward, chanting his street slogan “OBO” which is short for ‘Omo Baba Olowo’, and which translates into English as ‘son of a wealthy man’.
While he appeared to move back from their outstretched hands, which prompted a security official on stage to react. Security attacked a section of the fans with a lash, and as he struck, Davido swung to action.
The singer grabbed the official by his pants, and yanked him off the stage and out of sight, spurring a renewed chant by the fans, who were appreciative of the gesture.
